Manchester United have prepared to move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen as suggested by recent reports.
Manchester United have lined up a move for Joe Allen, a player of their historical rival Liverpool.
Louis van Gaal might have publicly insisted his side will not make any purchase on this summer transfer season, however, the recent injury worries of the players such as Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick could tempt the Dutchman to make for a move.
The Daily Star alleged that van Gaal was there to watch Allen during Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Monday and is prepared to offer the Reds up to £20m to bring the Welshman to Old Trafford.
The rumor has nothing more that outside chance of happening as the last time a Liverpool player moved directly from Anfield to Old Trafford was 76 years ago, when Allen by Chilton made the controversial switch due to the inimical relationship between the clubs.
United have confirmed the signing of their desperate transfer target Argentina international and Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria hours ago for a repeated transfer fee of about £60 million.
Beside di Maria, United have got off to the new season with new and ostentatious signings such as Ander Hererra from Athletic Bilbao, Luke Shaw from Southampton and Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon.
