After Philipp Lahm decided to call time on his international football earlier, Miroslav has also opted to join the Bayern skipper to retire from international football.
Klose was quoted earlier to retire in 2015, however, he seem to have changed his mind. “I’ve decided to retire in 2015,” he said to Bild last month.
Klose enjoyed a successful and illustrious international career for Germany where he recently lifted the recent World Cup trophy at Brazil with Germany and broke the record of highest goal in the World Cup with 17 goals. The record was in the name for Brazilian striker Ronaldo with 16 goals prior to the Brazil World Cup.
“Winning the World Cup was a dream come true. I’ve had a great time with the national team and enjoyed some amazing moments. There’s no better way for me to end my time with the German team than by winning the World Cup,” Klose commented on his decision.
Klose has appeared in four different World Cups since 2002. Klose has played at four World Cups since 2002, won the Golden Boot in 2006 and became the first player to appear in four consecutive semi-finals.
The former Bremen and Bayern forward has featured in altogether 137 games for Germany, scoring 71 goals in the process. Klose is all-time Germany’s highest scorer with Germany winning every game where Klose has scored.
Germany national team will be without two experienced players, Miroslav Klose and Philipp Lahm, now on.
