Major League Soccer announced the dates for its title playoffs that will end with the MLS Cup championship game on Dec 7.

Top 10 teams(5 teams each from Eastern & Western conference)  qualify for post season play.

Playoffs will start with the conference knockout round, in which the fourth- and fifth-place teams in each conference play a  knockout game to see which  clubs advance to the conference semifinals. The knockout-round matches will be played on Oct. 29-30.

Conference semifinals, which are decided by aggregate goals, will be played on Nov. 1-2 and Nov. 8-9.

The winners of the semifinals advance to the conference championships, which also are two games decided by aggregate goals. The conference championships will be played on Nov. 22-23 and Nov. 29-30.

MLS Cup winner will decide on  Dec. 7.

This would be the first time that MLS's post season would extend past Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27), that will allowed more weekend games.

LA Galaxy and the Seattle Sounders, are only two MLS teams , that so far have clinched playoff spots.
