Arsenal transfer news: Monalas undergoes medical

Arsenal are on the verge of signing another player this summer after long sought after defender Kostas Monalas was reported to have undergone Arsenal medical. The transfer is set to be completed in few days with the transfer fee believed in the region of €10 million.
Kostas Monalas, a 23 years old Greece international, plays for Greek outfit Olympiakos and has been considered a defensive prospect for few years now. His impressive performance at the club and for Greece in World Cup has not gone unnoticed as several of top European clubs including Juventus and Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested on player’s signature.
Wenger has been looking on to add another defender after Thomas Vermaelen was sold to Barcelona.
“Vermaelen behaved outstandingly last year – I am grateful for him and I wish him very well,” Wenger said.If I can find another centre-back I will do it.” Wenger told in the wake of Vermaelen departure.
Arsenal have already signed Chambers, primarily a right back, from Southampton who can feature at the heart of defense as well. The €20 million signing featured alongside Koscienly in the absence of Per Mertesacker in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. However, Wenger seems keen on to add another natural defender as the once seemingly thrifty club look ready to splash money on transfer.
