Tottenham's manager André Villas-Boas has criticised the soccer Association for its "disgraceful" and "farcical" call to not suspend Fernando Torres for scratching jan Vertonghen's face.
During Saturday's heated clash with Chelsea, the Spain striker was sent off for 2 yellow cards however avoided a straight red card earlier within the match. Torres was seen on TV scratching the face of the Spurs defender Vertonghen, deed visible marks, which led to the fa reviewing the incident.
However, as one of the match officials "saw the incident", no action can be taken below under rules – a call that thunderstruck Villas-Boas.
"It's extraordinarily troublesome to understand wherever to begin," the Portuguese aforesaid, speaking before Thursday's Europa League clash with Anzhi Makhachkala.
"Obviously, it's virtually a farcical call. It does not matter to me that player or club is concerned. Neither do i need to with my words put into question Fernando's integrity; neither their manager's, in attempting to defend what's our position.
"I suppose the fa has made a call virtually a joke. it's unimaginable. however are you able to see the pictures, pretty clear, and are available out without punishment, on one thing [which] overtakes all skilled behaviour?
"I suppose the choice could be a disgrace. If the committee cannot solve such clear pictures i do not suppose it sets out an honest 1st example and we're not asking no one to retract themselves; the player to retract themselves. that might not be truthful.
"This could be a competition and within the finish they came up with what they thought was truthful. we do not wish Fernando suspended as a result of it will build them weaker, as a result of their bench is therefore strong, however i feel the fa has lost all chance to place some sense into the pictures everyone saw.
"I'm extraordinarily grateful for ex-refs to be able to enlighten individuals alittle bit more, although i feel most of you guys saw the incident as one thing that's not tolerable in soccer."
